Notes on installing air springs in the rear of the 01 Insight. Wed 08/18/04 11:14 AM Looks like the 50208 is perfect with the built in jounce stop Ride height, from the bottom of the fender skirt to lower edge the rim (Point to point, let the measuring tape angle) on the rear of the Insight: Stock, from Andrew Letton, some tools in back: 7-3/4" (= About 20 psi on bags) Topped out (60 psi in air bags) : 10-1/2" On the lower air bag stops is 7- 1/4", seems too early to bottom out. Driving... definitely too early of a bump stop. Bouncy ride. Rides decent with higher pressure, about 40 psi but that brings the height up to 9-3/16" which feels too high. Looks like it will need the upper spring perches removed and remade shorter. The spacers can be added to get the bump stop in the right place. Sun 10/10/04 10:22 PM Extended driving finds that it runs quite well with the ride 1" over stock, still it might be nice to make a custom shorter mount to reduce the spring rate.
